Google Docs For Educators Professional Development And Productivity

By Mattie Knight

Ever since the invention of Google drive, sharing and creating all kinds of documents has become so easy. Educators and teachers in particular are known to have benefited a lot from the invention of the of Google docs or simply Gdocs which included online word files, spreadsheets, slides, and forms. Here are some of the ways to use google docs for educators professional development.

It is a common fact that education is all about collaborating with other colleagues as there will be a lot of instances when two or more teachers will be working on the same project like for example a curriculum. Usually, teachers would just be creating one Microsoft Word file then sending it to each other back and forth until the final draft it made. However if one would use Gdocs, he can instantly create one file that many people can work on at the exact same time.

Of course there are going to be meetings almost all of the time and it is very common for colleagues to share notes with each other. To make things easier, Gdocs offers a way for one to share files easily by just providing the link so that it can be accessed in a click. So if there is a meeting and a colleague wants to share some notes, then using Gdocs is the best way to do it.

Flash drives are often used by teachers so that they may access their files when they are using the school computers. However, there are those teachers who do not possess any flash drives at all. So if one does not have a flash drive, then what he may do is he can store all his files in his Google Drive and then just access the files when he logs into his Google account.

Powerpoints are known to be extremely useful for the teaching profession. However, there are going to be some instances wherein the powerpoint that a teacher is using would have a few errors in it and he would have to go home to change it so he can use it again the next time. With Google Slides, it is possible to change the error on the spot so that one does not have to change it later on.

Most teachers would want to share notes to their students after a lecture. The problem here is that sometimes the teacher would not be able to send the file to all students as some may not give their emails properly. So to save time and effort, he can put the notes in a document file and just share the link.

Now if the teacher is afraid that the students may change the content of the file, he can adjust the settings. He can make the link a view only link which means no one can edit it. Others may view it but only the educator may edit it.

This application is very practical and safe. Its features are extremely unique and very easy to use. It is definitely very useful for any teacher out there.
