Patients need respect from a nurse to remain valuable and see reasons why he must stay strong and positive throughout the treatment. A doctor needs a nurse's respect so that he can perform. Sometimes, a nurse has to instruct other hospital workers like the cleaners on what to do and this won't be a problem if the nurse is humble and respectable.
Do not blame that prospective nurse for not going out with you on your birthday. The likely reason is that they have so much to cover for the exams. So even when it is some months to their tests, they are seriously reading just to make sure they are not overwhelmed with the tasks later.
