One of the most crucial investments one can make is education. This high level importance comes with high costs too. Learning is very costly and therefore not all can afford it. Without any form of help majority of people would not have the ability to read and write at all. Mostly the poor and middle class population is affected by these high costs.Below are main Problems With Public Education.

Necessity being the mother of all inventions, this need gave birth to the ideology of public school learning. These are institutions where learning is offered at no cost. The costs are transferred to the state or nation as the case may dictate. This form of free learning is mandated by the law for certain age categories. This system suffers a number of key problems.

First and foremost is the issue of discipline. This is the major un-doing of majority of public schools. With rampant cases of in disciplinary cases each day it is hard to have a good learning environment. This problem is worsened by the limitation of authority of the teachers in school. These students no longer have respect for their teachers which makes teaching almost impossible.

The unions of teachers also create another big problem for these learning institutions. These unions have failed to ensure that teachers deliver at work. They accommodate lazy teachers who are also incompetent at work. Unions also do little to encourage the more determined and hardworking teachers. This creates a very big problem for these schools as very little teaching is done eventually.

They also experience a problem of bulk in activities despite the limited resources. These schools offer a wide variety of learning activities within a limited time frame. Hence very minimal time is left to practice the basics of education which are most crucial. This together with the large enrollment and minimal teaching resources makes accomplishment hard. Due to this many students are well versed at so much but unable to read or write properly.

Too much emphasis is put on age in the public school education system. Very little or no effort at all is made to know about their skills and abilities. Children are put into classes on age basis and yet skill and ability is the distinguishing factor for the various classrooms. This makes the work of teachers very hard altogether. Hence it hinders and stalls the learning process.

Lack of adequate competition amongst students in these schools is another problem. This is caused by the teachers who not only tolerate but also encourage mediocre performance. This denies the slow students the motivation to work harder. It also makes the brilliant students to not work for the best. This lack of competition and desire for better is a major setback in these public schools. Competition is a healthy aspect of learning and growing environment.

Last but not least is the total disregard for rules and regulations in these learning institutions. Learners do as they wish in the school environment. Talking in classes, random movements without permission and missing of sessions are some of the vices. In conclusion these are some of the key setbacks in public schools.
