How To Take Care Of Mouse As A Pet

By Richard Morgan

People can choose whatever animal they cold have as pet at home. That may be the usual type of animals seen in every house like cats or dogs. It may as well be something that is quite exciting to have like for example snakes or tarantula. Others opt to having those that are considered as pests like mouse. This small things can be destructive when they live in a household but there are still those individual who choose to let them stay around and take care of them. However, those who are trying to have one of them for the first time needs to understand that they have great needs as well like their cage that serves as its home. Though there are mouse vivarium San Diego which are perfect for them.

Their room or vivarium are set on a temperature and atmosphere suitable for them to survive. The scent around it, is something that is not irritating for them. It also is usually designed to have their water and food ready but for baby mice, they may not be able to know where to get their food and water just yet.

Baby mice are not capable of eating on their own just yet so putting them directly to a cage will just have them dead. To help them survive on that stage, they will need to be provided with liquid nourishment. So, just like puppies and kittens, they will be fed with milk. As an owner, be sure to not give them a milk mixture that came from cows.

Since new born mice have not opened their eyes yet, the best way to feed them is through a dropper or a syringe. Put the mixture inside the said vials and gently pump it straight to the mouth of that tiny little thing. Feeding them should be done every two hours until they can already open their own eyes.

If owners are feeding them, avoid trying to force them into taking everything all at once. Give them ample of time to swallow the first mixture that was pumped before having to pump again so that they would not choke on the process. Give the mice the amount of milk it wants, if it looks like its still hungry the continue feeding it, when it looks like it had enough then do not force it with them.

However when they can have their eyes open, it is the right time to give them solid foods. It will be up to the owner if they will mix it still with liquid nourishment but its okay not to. Some of the foods that are suitable for mice are kitten, hamster and baby human food mixtures. They could as well have some soft cook veggies like squash.

One interesting fact about baby mice is that they could not pee on their own. Normally, they will need their mothers to lick them so they could urinate. However, if their mother is not with them then it is the responsibility of their owner to stimulate them into peeing by dipping a cotton ball on a warm water and moving it over the genital of mice in a gentle manner till it has urinated.

Mice though can be a carrier of disease. However, the probability is low, it still is something to worry of. There are tips that needs to get done so that owners are safe. Use gloves when touching them and have a habit of washing hands carefully. It would as well help if the ticks on its body are removed.

Like any other normal pets, the brain of every mouse needs to be stimulated. Putting toys they can chew on its cage may help. Of course, it also is a great idea to put mouse wheels.
