Why Is Environmental Remediation Important

By Christine Green

Environment entails two main aspects, living and nonliving. From a general definition, ecology is the study of the home of an organism. Organisms are both the plants and animals. There are those factors that pollute or contaminate the environment. Nowadays, human beings are not so careful when it comes to taking care of different elements that make up the surroundings. However, each and every individual has an obligation to make sure that they observe cleanliness when it comes to water, soil and air. Therefore, it is important to understand importance of environmental remediation.

Quarrying is an activity that helps many people in earning a living across the globe. It helps many raise their standard of living. The mined granite, marble, limestone slate and sandstone were traditionally and recently used for hard flooring. Stones are used for building permanent buildings. However, this process causes noise pollution, damage to biodiversity, habitat destruction and air pollution.

Habitat destruction results once the land is destroyed and unfit for man due to holes and the ruggedness left on the land. It also becomes scary since some unstable stones and sand may start falling. These causes people to vacate the land and are sometimes left homeless. Noise pollution caused by blasting rocks with explosives and different companies when manufacturing products affect those near the area.

Some become deaf while some cannot be able to hear easily not unless you shout at them. Pollution of air due to poisonous gas emitted causes breathing problems. Some are for a life time and cannot be treated while others are treatable. Exposure of skin to air pollutants has led to skin aging and inflammatory such as eczema, atopic dermatitis and pimples. Skin cancer is the most severe one which has caused death of many people across the world.

Environment restorative is a process that is very important in cleaning up an area or restoring it to its natural status. In most instances, pollutants in the soil and water are brought about by industrial firms that do not operate anymore, or those that closed their businesses before regulations were put in place.

It includes water surfaces which are the lakes, stream and rivers which can be contaminated by pollutants released directly to them or by runoff from the ground. Industries have a tendency of releasing these wastes into the water. Most of estates also direct their sewages into the water bodies hence contaminating them.

It is important to note that this process is essential to the environment for the existence of the organisms that are present in it. Mostly, it is out of the negligence of people that results to contamination of the environment. It is wise for the government to put precautions to the contamination agents that are within the country locality.

In conclusion, the responsibility to take care of the surroundings lies on each and every individual. Nature is so good at giving back, and when not taken good care of, the final result could have a negative effect on human, animal and plant life. But in areas where the environment is already contaminated, environmental restorative can be carried out to restore it back to its natural state.
