There are numerous resources for the terminally ill and their care givers. They make it easier to understand this situation or offer better care. Some are about caregivers and their experiences while others are about personal experiences by the patients. Terminal illness books are excellent if you wish to understand this situation.

The Fault in Our Stars- John Green gives a very captivating story of a girl who has just learned that she has cancer. She joins a teenagers support group where everyone is battling a certain condition. Through the book you will encounter other teenagers with different conditions. Their conditions affect their social and love lives and add flavor to them.

My Sisters Keeper- this is the work of Randy Pausch that focuses on the reaction after the bombshell about being terminally ill is dropped. It helps you understand this moment. Persons waiting for their results and caregivers will find it very resourceful. It delves into the mind of an anxious patient and tells of their expectations and reactions.

Before I die- Jenny Downham takes you through the life of a patient with only a few months to live. Amidst hospital appointments, drugs with devastating side effects and numerous tests, she comes up with a To Do Before I Die List. The number one on the list is surprisingly sex. The new experiences emanating from the To Do List bring her failing body to life. It is an interesting look at the final stages of life.

Deadline- Ben Wolf always dreamed about that final year. It turns out that he has a terminal disease and will have to change his plans. Within the remaining one year he has sets out to be an excellent footballer, save his drunkard friend and give a headache to his civics teacher. In his attempt to keep his mission a secret, he discovers that other people too have secrets.

Me and the Earl and the Racing Girl- high school espionage intrigues Greg Gaines. He has an accomplice named Earl. Gregs mother forces him to get back with Rachel, a girl diagnosed with leukemia. An idea pops out that Greg can make a movie about Rachel. It is rated The Worst Ever but it acts as a springboard to stardom for Greg, Earl and Rachel. It is now a battle to keep up with the demands of being in the limelight for Greg.

Ruin- Michals has been warned that he can do nothing to change the situation of a terminally ill friend. She is used to depression and no trick by Michals will change a thing. This is the mentality those who interact with such patients have. Rachel van Dyken exposes the conflict that arises out of such an approach and the damage it causes.

Death of a Super Hero- according to McCarten, Donald has become violent after learning that his days on earth are numbered. He turns to drugs, music and sex to the dismay of his teachers and parents. He seems to be escaping from the real battles in his life. Their only hope lies in a psychologist, but will he succeed? Only the last page can tell.
