Facts About Slave Trade In America

By Leslie Ball

Three centuries ago in the United States there started a very popular and inhumane trade of workers. Slave trade in America was done by many people by shipping people from Africa to America so that they can work in their farms without pay. It is hard to understand how these people managed to get through these times. Some say they were just loyal while others say they were docile because they never managed to resist the American rule.

There are many historians who have talked about this issue. Some of them say that the slaves were obedient people and this is why they were oppressed for a long time while others say they were too stupid to be able to device effective ways of freeing themselves. Many try hard to understand the real reason why these people were oppressed for such a long time.

The slaves were subjugated to a lot of harsh treatments by their masters for nearly two and a half centuries a time that many people consider too long to live in oppression. However, with time more people started to rise against the slave masters and the cases of slaves killing their masters started to rise. Many people still did not have enough courage to form successful rebellion associations.

After around three centuries of oppression the slaves now decided to gather courage to revolt against their oppressors. In the 1900s there were over thirty revolts in different parts of America. A slave revolt is an action of rebellion done by a group of ten or more slaves with freedom being the main aim of their actions. Slave revolts became very popular in these times because the Negros were desperate for freedom.

Even though the slavery in the past centuries was reduced, there are still people of modern day that continue to be oppressed and sold as workers. Millions of people in different parts of the world still experience some form of oppression and they do not know how they can relieve themselves from this life. The following are examples of actions that can be taken to reduce the slavery that is still going on worldwide today.

The first action to be taken is to increase the public awareness to the slavery which is taking place. Numerous people are presently not conscious of the bondage that is occurring in these modern days therefore there is no way they can help. Increasing wakefulness will help more individuals to get dedicated in this fight

A lot of funds are needed I there is any hope of winning the fight against slave trade. In order to get the required resources there is need for different governments to show their commitment in the fight. They can also set aside very harsh punishments for people involved in slavery to discourage people from practicing the trade.

If people try to take individual action to fight this crime then it will be easier to completely eradicate it. The people in the future generations will only hear of slavery but they will never get to see it actually happening.
