Easy Ways To Get A Photographic Memory

By Andrew Wallace

You have probably met a person who seems to remember things, places and people as if they are happening in front of his eyes. The ability to remember is sometimes inborn. However, it is possible to get a photographic memory or at least enhance your ability to remember through a number of ways as explained by experts.

Remembering or forgetting are factors that are affected by your general health. As such, your lifestyle has an impact on your capacity to retain important information in your head. Conditions such as stress, anger, depression and anxiety affect your remembering capacity. The solution to these conditions does not solely lie in medicine. Increased socialization and activities that require body and mind alertness like yoga and tai chi will boost the capacity of your brain.

Brain activity makes recalling easier and expands your ability to retain more. Just like the muscles on your body, your brain requires exercise to boost its sharpness and capacity. Some brain activities that would boost your ability include playing board games, reading thought provoking books, newspapers, taking on a new language and enrolling in a new course. Crossword puzzles and code words are also regarded as brain teasers.

A healthy brain must have adequate supply of blood and oxygen at all times. This can only be guaranteed through exercising the body. This pumps blood faster to all parts of the body leading to adequate oxygen supply. Endeavor to enjoy fresh air at all times. There are lifestyle options that boost the activity of your body. Riding the bike several hours a week, abandoning the lift in favor of stairs and at least thirty minutes exercise every five days of the week are the other options.

Alcohol has been condemned as a brain cell killer. It affects the receptors in your brain causing memory lapse. The recommended consumption is only two glasses of wine each day. With this, your body can maintain a healthy balance. It has however been revealed that moderate drinkers delay or even escape Alzheimers by the age of 65 years. This therefore means that alcohol has double effects but excessive consumption is discouraged by all means.

For some people, the ability to recall has nothing to do with the brain. The presence of distractions means that your mind cannot effectively register whatever you wish. A mind that is dealing with competing attention will remember very little. As such, minimize the distractions or issues requiring your attention. This will make it easier to remember what is important since the brain can register and retain it as such.

Association is an effective way to easily remember objects, people, places, etc. For instance, a book entitled The Green Road can be remembered by trying to imagine what would make your highway to home green. If you place your keys on a table at the door, imagine them hiding or trying to escape. Associate an object with its attributes and it will be easier to recall.

Other strategies to boost your memory include repeating names or attributes when mentioned. In case you are dealing with large numbers and figures, group or split them to manageable chunks. The pillars of better remembrance are a healthy brain and an environment free from distractions.
